Notes:
For sale on Ebay.com in July and August 2013 by a dealer called William Dunsil, 25 Lincoln St, Apt. 2, Haverstraw, NY 10927-1106 with a provenance as bought privately from an estate in Greenwich, Connecticut. The vendor said it was ‘of Ella Mittendorf, married in 1906.’ Later relisted on Etsy at $5000.
This might possibly be a child portrait of the wife of William Elphinstone Keith Mittendorf (son of William Frederick Mittendorf and Emma Zeuchner) who was born 20 May 1877 in New York, NY, and died 07 Dec 1957 in Tampa, FL. He married Marie Alvina Borchers on 15 Feb 1906 in New York, NY, daughter of Louis Dietrich Christoph Borchers and Emilie Louise Euker.
Stylistically akin to the portrait of Miss Brandeis in the Newark Museum and the double portrait of Walter and Rachel Hill in a Private USA Collection.
