Mater Dolorosa (Copy after Deschwanden)

Description:
Oil on canvas, 36″ x 25.1/8″ (91.2 cm x 63.8 cm), signed ‘Muller Adolfo n(ach) D(eschwanden) Airolo 1881’. The stretcher bears the stamp of Emma Müller. A label on the reverse is that of a firm of framemakers ‘J. Weibel-Turner, Hertensteinerstraße 58, Luzern.’

Emma Müller (the artist’s oldest sister) until her death in 1933; passed to Hospental at that time.
