The millboard panel bears a label for the famous New York art materials firm of F. W. Devoe and Company, Corner of Fulton and Williams Streets, New York.
The impressionist handling of the paint, with thickly brushed impasto, and its stylistic likeness to the small panel called ‘Woman in a White Bonnet’ in a Private Collection in London, suggests it may actually have been painted in Paris. Perhaps dated to around 1910.
