The artist’s diary for October 20, 1931, indicates that he received a cheque for $5,000 from a Mrs. Bradley for the portrait he had painted in San Marino of her husband. He had been anxious about this because on March 10 he said he had not received the payment. No further details are known, but it must have been quite a large portrait painted in 1930.
