Appenzeller Zeitung, Herisau, Switzerland, May 28, 1888.
The Appenzeller Zeitung, May 28, 1888 stated: ‘…Ferner find ihm die Bildnisse der HH. Bundesräte Droz und Schenk übertragen, nebst anderweitigen Porträtirungen’. The implication is that their likenesses were ‘transferred’ to canvas. The reference must refer to the Swiss politician Kark Schenk who was born on December 1, 1823 and died on July 18, 1895. As at 2004 he held the record of the longest serving member of the Swiss Federal Council, 31 years. He was President of Switzerland six times, in 1865, 1871, 1874, 1878, 1885 and 1893.
