The mahogany panel bears the stamp ‘F. Dupre, 141 Faubourg Saint-Honoré/coin de la Rue de Berri, Paris’.

The impressionist handling of the paint, with thick hastily brushed impasto, and the provenance on the label on the verso, suggests that the artist actually painted the picture in Paris, and only much later was it exported to Canada. Perhaps dated around 1910.
