Half-length, before a red curtain, holding a piece of folded paper on which is written ‘Landammann Isidor Meyer Andermatt’, a view of Hospental in the background. Oil on canvas, 30” x 25”, signed upper right ‘A. Muller-Ury 1936’.

Provenance:
Hung in the Historisches Museum, Altdorf, Switzerland for many years until the Andermatt Museum was opened.

Isidor Meyer, who was born in Andermatt on 8 January, 1860, was a distant kinsman of the artist; his aunt Clara Müller married a Meyer — likewise his brother Albert married an Esther Meyer. He was the owner and proprietor of the Hotel Meyerhof in Hospental between 1886 and 1932, and involved in the government of Canton Uri for many years. He wrote many articles and books:
