Provenance:
Acquired from the artist’s brother in 1947 after the decease of the artist by Mrs Theresia Roehre, 3535 95th Street, Jackson Heights, NY; after her death in 2005 passed to the present owner.

Almost certainly the picture exhibited at Wildenstein in 1937 (it was called ‘Mother of Sorrows’ in the handlist) and dating from 1935-6.
