In a letter to James J. Hill written from New York on 3rd June, 1902, Muller-Ury says, ‘I am still working on Mr. Kahn’s etching wich [sic] give me a great deal of work and troubles.’ The sitter was the banker and financier Otto Kahn (1867-1934) of Kuhn Loeb & Co, who had been involved in financing and reorganizing the US railroad systems, but no etching is known to the editor. Muller-Ury certainly painted at around this time the portraits of Mr Henri P. Wertheim and his wife Clara Wolff Wertheim , who was the sister of Mrs. Otto Kahn.
