The sitter was born in 1856 and became a Real Estate dealer. Painted 1918-19, during the sitter’s Presidency of the Club. He was the 14th President of the Club; and had been Treasurer for seven years before that. He was also a Treasurer and Trustess of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He had homes in Newport, Rhode Island, and in New York. He died on August 28, 1919.
