This version, perhaps painted in the 1920s, was evidently altered by the artist in the 1930s or 1940s, when he strengthened the appearance of the sea to the left and overpainted the sky so that the triangle of darkness in the original photograph is less prominent, as well as retouching the cloth over the nude’s lap.
